If you are using an add-on theme the code needed to do CSS modifications might differ a bit from the default theme that comes with Firefox. Might make it hard for anyone not familiar with that theme to do additional mods.

Modifications like you are asking about are typically done via userChrome.css code or via the Stylish extension.
