I opened my Thunderbird today and ALL MY ACCOUNTS and ALL SAVED EMAILS are gone. Only my most current email address with current mails are left. I had emails from deceased people even 10 years old that are now GONE.

I AM SO PISSED

So many photos, recipes, everything GONE.

The only thing I can think of is that Thunderbird somehow updated itself and wiped out every account I had except for the latest most current. I refused updating Thunderbird because the last times I did I hated it, so I kept the old version that I liked.. and now it's all gone.

I will never recommend Thunderbird to anyone ever.

All may not be lost. Tens of thousands update regularly with no problem and, from my time here on the forum, such problems are always intertwined with anti-virus software that intercepts the update. You might check to see what profiles are remaining and whether it can be recovered. Clicking help>moretroubleshootinginformation, scrolling down to 'Profiles' and then clicking 'about:profiles' may let you see what profiles are there and what content is there.

I had 3 mail accounts. Under profiles I see the 3, 2 of them have a file Inbox.sbd. All of them have inbox and inbox.msf None of these are useful. All lead to the same place with a popup asking me how I want to open the file.. adobe, text, paint, etc ..

This is not a useful way to look at email files. Also, the 3rd profile, which is the email acct I use here, jmpietk username, is only listed as pop3 not the mail server as the other two are.. and.. it's inbox.sbd file shows only 2 emails .. where are all the rest?

Also, I did try to import the profiles back into the mail program but it said it didn't find any files to import.

Screen shots would be helpful at this point.
