This is the second PC where suddenly all maps like incoming, outgoin inclusive submaps and all email disappear. In this case after update 102. Nothing I can do about already started problem solving mode but that doesn't get my old thunderbird back either. So like on my laptop that ran into this problem 4 weeks ago, I only have this stupid blank page left. The only thing I can still do is send emails. I can receive them, but I don't get to see them as all maps etc are gone. I used this program for over 6 years so now many valuable emails are untracable wich is a disaster to me. I hope someone has an answer.

It is possible Thunderbird is opening on the correct profile but has lost the knowledge of where to look for all the data - mail accounts etc. So check the 'prefs.js' file.

Please check the following and post the required image.

Menu icon > Help > More TRoubleshooting Information Under 'Application Basics' about half way down is 'Profile Folders' - click on 'Open Folder' In mac this might be called 'Open Finder' It opens a new window showing the contents of the 'profile name' folder.

Set up View so we see columns eg: Name, Type, Size, Modified date and make sure the extensions are also showing. Scroll down to the 'prefs.js' file How many 'prefs.js' files do you see some may have numbers ? Please Post image showing all the 'prefs.js' files. I'm trying to find out if these incidents are related to the 'prefs.js' file so images will help with collecting info on what is going on.

The one called 'prefs.js' is the one currently in use. If it's size is low eg: 8kb then it is like a new one - no mail account data. The one with the highest number will be the previously used pref file, it may have a size closer to eg: 90kb.

  • Exit Thunderbird.
  • Rename 'prefs.js' to 'prefs.js.old'
  • Rename the 'prefs-x.js' (where x is the highest number and file has good size' ) to 'prefs.js'
  • Start Thunderbird.
  • Report on results

If there is only the one 'prefs,js' file - so you cannot rename anything - go up the directory to the 'Profiles' folder Post image showing contents of 'Profiles' folder. Then go up the directory to the 'Thunderbird' folder open a file called 'profiles.ini' using eg: Notepad Post image showing the contents.

Another user had similar issue.

They could access the Account Settings.

They removed one mail account and restarted Thunderbird then added the mail account again. This brought back all the mail accounts and all the folders.
