TB 102 - Backslash character added to occurrence of colon in notes on contacts

In TB 102 if I add a note to a contact in the address book which contains a : (colon), a \ (backslash) character is added after it.

For example, if I enter "Test: xxxxx" into the note field and save it, it is then displayed as "Text\: xxxxxx".

This seems like a bug to me. Is anyone else seeing this problem?

Thanks, Bill

Sorry, I meant the \ is inserted before the :.

That would be bug 1772677 fixed 4 days ago and likely to see a release to you soon. Currently marinating in a daily release to see if the fix actually broke something else. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1772677

Thanks for the reply. That bug is referring to URLs, but I didn't have any URLs. Mine is just when I enter a : in a note. Is that also fixed?

Thanks, Bill

I would guess so, that is why I posted it. While : is a punctuation mark it is also the core of URLs, the information before being the protocol and that after being the location. That they are talking about carddav and google, I would only be concerned if your address book is not Google based.

But hey, why not ask the experts. Then there is no guessing.

My address book is Google based. Even though my problem is a little different, I do hope it will be fixed by this fix.

As this is Thunderbird Support I was hoping I was asking the experts. Where would I ask the experts if not here?

I asked in the bug. I looked at the patch and am starting to doubt my early assumption. So lets see what the response is.

OK... thanks.

Since the bug was closed I wasn't sure I should add to it.
