I have researched this site, looked up several articles, but the bottomline is that Firefox updated my browser without my permission and deleted my bookmarked and cookie history. I will no longer used this browser after 9 years. BEWARE

Sometimes when the browser thinks there is a problem with the profile, it will create a new one.

Look on your desktop. Do you see a folder called; Old Firefox? Look inside. Look for the folder with the latest creation date.

no. unfortunately there is no such folder. I did follow the weblink and look on Firefox for more than one profile. but there is only one. I am afraid Firebox cant no longer be trusted to do updates.
