I have used Thunderbird for several years, connecting to my gmail account. Since the latest update of thunderbird, I am unable to access my gmail account through thunderbird, nor am I able to write or send new messages or replies using Thunderbird. I don't Further, I cannot access my address files, my email groups, and new emails.

Where I get hung up is when I try to send an outgoing message, I get a box that says that I need to put in my passowrd. I've tried both my thunderbird and gmail passwords, and it accepts neither one.

Hello,

Google changed their system for authentication. they now use oauth2 for mail authentication.

To set it up, go to the account's server settings and change the authentication method to Oauth2 and Thunderbird will bring up a google login page so that it can access your Google account.
