My notifications are showing 40 messages but they are not in my inbox anywhere. I have checked hidden messages but they are nowhere. I am on a Mac.

Thank you so much!

right click the folder, select properties and then repair and see if that helps. (It might)

Thank you so much for your reply Matt. I tried it but I still have these 40 messages. I know I didn't get some emails that my friend confirmed sending so I know which account it is but I am not having luck with it. Thank you for the tip - I can see it useful for future issues :)

Any other ideas?

Check that you have View/Folders set to All, and that there are no filters, pinned or otherwise, applied by the Quick Filter Bar.

Hi. Set to all and not seeing any filters - though I have spam assassin on - I don't know where to find the pinned messages/option - when I click the quick filter bar, nothing happens.

The Quick Filter Bar (View/Layout) should not have any of the buttons depressed, or the pin icon (see picture).

Do you see the messages when the account is read in webmail? There may be a corrupted message blocking the download of the others, so deleting messages one-by-one in webmail may eventually unjam the queue.

Thank you for your help!! I am checking how to get into the webmail and will try that. I attached what I have and it looks like nothing is pressed - please see attached. I will report back after checking the webmail.

Very grateful for your troubleshooting!!!

Nope it didn't change anything - SO weird!!!! I'm thinking the universe doesn't want me to read them otherwise I can't imagine why they are hiding.

Select 'Inbox' Then check : 'View' > Threads' > set to 'All'.

Hi. Thank you for your reply - yes all set to view all.

I have been using Thunderbird for over a decade and never came across this and I have never had any issues ever. We are stumped here. It is only for 1 of my domains. Ever since I set it up on Thunderbird, it started showing this.

Could it just be a glitch in the system?

One more setting: View/Sort by - Unthreaded, in case the new messages are buried in threads.

Does the number on the taskbar icon refer to new Inbox messages or all folders, including Spam/Junk?

more options

Hi!

Unthreaded was highlighted. It is for inbox only. My spam is empty and I turned off the spam / junk filter. There is nothing in the webmail either.

Thank you!!
