My Mozilla Thunderbird Email will not open and keeps asking for my password then ignoring it. I looked at Help and it says something about opening up Tools but I can't find that. I came across the following when trying again.

Login to server mail.btinternet.com with username [email protected] failed.

Are you able to logon to that username/email address webmail account via a browser? Please test this and report back on whether you got access or not. If access failed then use the 'Forgotten Password' link to gain access and reset the password.

Then in Thunderbird, remove the stored password, restart Thunderbird and enter the new password at the prompt.

Are you talking about a POP or IMAP mail account?

I use BT and POP and access to server is up and running.

Obviously any Email you send will not get through. I'm looking for an alternative Email.

All sorted out now. It was a result of a security problem I had and I had to get the involvement of BT who issued me some sort of Pin number that enabled me to alter my security and my Email opened up again.
