I love Firefox browser! But recently - this last week, when I try to type any of the following numbers 1 or 2 or 3 or 4 using FF browser - even in this text box, the numbers are not recorded and the screen jumps to an open tab.

The only way to get the numbers onto the browser screen is to cut and paste the numbers in the text box - as I did above in this box.

This does NOT happen with Chrome or Internet Explorer browser. I can not find any documentation about this defect. Please help. This happens on both my computers which are HP Elite Book 64 bit - 16.0 GB, Windows 7 Professional.

I can't use the Firefox browser until this is fixed. I don't know what to do to get rid of this issue. Note, that I have installed and uninstalled the browser but still have this issue. Thanks.

Great news...the problem with the weird number keys 1,2,3,4 which I was unable to use and jumped to a new tab when typed has been fixed.

The culprit was an old Add-On - Extension in the Firefox browser. When I disabled "Advanced Tab Navigation 1.1.2" the keys worked perfectly. Then when I enabled this Add-On-Extension, the problem returned.

This can happen if you have a sticky CTRL key.

It is possible that some of the status keys have the wrong state and Firefox sees them as still pressed.

Try to press all the status keys (Shift, Ctrl, Alt) a few times to see if that helps to recover from this. If it doesn't help then close and restart Firefox or reboot the computer.
