Why has Firefox suddenly stopped me from accessing my webmail @cogeco.ca

more options

I was accessing my webmail @cogeco.ca earlier today without a problem. Java asked me to update my Java. I complied & did a restart but was not able to access my webmail through Mozilla Firefox. I contacted Norton to to have them check, just in case they were automatically blocking Firefox. They confirmed that I could access my web mail through my Windows Explorer. They said Norton was not blocking Firefox. They said the problem was with Firefox & notify them of the problem. Do you know what has happened? Mozilla Firefox will still access other saved favourites websites without a problem, but has a problem with Cogeco Cable's web mail access. It goes through the Cogeco boot up through 81% then gets hung up & won't display any mail.

Maybe Norton support suggested this, but just in case...

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.

(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache

Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.

Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:

orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced

On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"

If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.

(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:

  • right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
  • Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"

In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.

Then try reloading the page and logging in again. Does that help?
