I have been experiencing this for a couple of weeks. On almost every search. It always goes to the same YouTube page about how to make a YouTube video -- but I NEVER searched for that info. I've read this is a virus or trojan or some sort of malware that it's very difficult to get rid of. One user suggested the ONLY way he could get rid of it was to completely uninstall Firefox and reinstall. If I need to uninstall and reinstall, what cheap (free?) software can I use to uninstall every remnant? Most importantly, how can I be sure to save all of my bookmarks, user names and passwords somewhere to reinstall later? Or, is there any easier way to fix this wonky redirect issue?

Thank you in advance

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.
