Since three days ago, Firefox will not start. None of the remedies on your site seem to work.
Internet explorer seems to work fine. When I click on the Firefox icon, the curser indicates that Firefox is trying to open but nothing else happens. When I go to task manager, it will list every time that I tried Firefox as an open session but there is still nothing else indicating that I have successfully opened a Firefox session. I have tried to uninstall and re-download several different versions of Firefox with the same results. It will still not start. When I go to the Programs folder and choose the .exe file under firefox, I still get nothing. I have run my antivirus program, done a disk cleanup and run the disk defragmenter and still get nothing when I try to start Firefox.

Try the Firefox Safe Mode to see how it works there. The Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)
- You can open the Firefox 4.0+ Safe Mode by holding the Shift key when you use the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
- Or use the Help menu item and click on the Restart with Add-ons Disabled... menu item while Firefox is running.
Don't select anything right now, just use "'Start in Safe Mode" To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before using the Firefox shortcut (without the Shift key) to open it again. If it is good in the Firefox Safe Mode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.
Please follow the Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems article for that.

Can you please run malwarebytes on your PC? There is a virus which is bypassing normal anti-virus and is preventing Firefox from starting up. http://www.malwarebytes.org/
A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.
