The toolbar is a dark silver gray in color, making the words in black virtually unreadable - and the entire bar is so small that it's ridiculous - how do I fix or undo this?

Search for different themes until you find the one you like: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/themes/
Then under your firefox menu, go to Add-on, then Appearance to enable/disable/delete them.
