Firefox 3.6.8 under Win 7 can not link to streaming audio, such as NPR

It can call up Winamp or Win Media Player, but both of them lock up with a message about "waiting for video. . ."

One has to give up and try under IE, which is a 64-bit app on this machine. It can successfully manage a handoff to an audio player.
