Firefox doesn't redirect us to the website when we type the name of the website in the address bar

Before when I typed orkut in the address bar of Firefox 3.6 and press enter, it automatically goes to that site by adding www & .com . But now when I type it in the address bar, it takes me to Google search results for orkut and then from there I have to click on the website. Can anyone help me solve this problem? This happedned after I deleted my Default Profile of my Firefox.

You have a modified version of a hidden preference that is causing this. You need to change the location bar search option to use Google's browse by name feature.

  1. Type about:config into the location bar and press enter
  2. Accept the warning message that appears, and you will end up with a list of preferences
  3. In the filter box type keyword
  4. Double-click on the preference keyword.URL and change its value to the one shown below

http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&sourceid=navclient&gfns=1&q=
