single folder archive not working

I connected Thunderbird to my IMAP account. In the account settings, I have in Copies & Folders -> Message Archives -> [x] Keep Message Archives in -> [x] "Archives" folder on (email address). And then in Archive Options I selected to place them in "a single folder".

However, it's not doing that. If I archive an email it ends up in a "2023" subfolder no matter what. I also tried selecting the second radio button "Other" where I then selected the same Archives folder manually.

Also, not sure if related, Thunderbird calls the folder "Archives" but my webmail calls it "Archived". In webmail, I now have a both folders showing, with both containing the same number of emails.

I am subscribed to all folders.

go to Settings, search for "Config Editor", in there search for "archive_granularity" and set all to "0"

For some reason the GUI setting didn't actually change the "real" setting.
