Firefox update Aug-18-2020 from 68 to 79
FF has updated my android phone today Aug-18-2020 from version 68 to 79.04. The update was released Aug-12-2020
How is such a large version jump performed?

Development work has slowed on Firefox for Android while we have been working on this new version, not just the front end that you see, but the engineering that makes it much faster behind the scenes. With us now ready to publish what we have been working on, Firefox for Android is now much more in line with the desktop copy of Firefox.
