My name wont change after changing in account settings
It should be simple enough to change my Display Name in Account settings. However after changing name and sending multiple test e-mails my name never changes even after restart. originally when I installed Windows, the name was my windows user name. But before setting up the account I changed it to another name. I can not change it anymore no matter what. If I delete the account and re create it, it still wont change. Unless there is another way, I would have to reinstall Windows to change my e-mail user name.

Are you using Gmail at all? The name that appears as the sender will depend on which smtp server was used and completely ignores what you set up as the "from:" address in the message itself.
I added a G-mail account to Thunderbird and tried a different name (from field) in settings and it did NOT work. When I send a test e-mail, it still shows the original name in the from field with NO WAY to change it. This is insane, other than reinstalling Windows, there is no way to change my name ? Even if I create a new e-mail account for a different person, it will always say from ME !!!

Otherwise with or without G- mail there is no way to change my name.
