Why does firefox need my age
Firefox will not let me sign in to pocket unless I give my age. I've read that legally they have to know I am over 13 but I'm not convinced, surely if that were true then the question would be "are you over thirteen" not "How old are you". It also said in the post I read "they don't store this information" well the same question rises, why not just ask , are you over thirteen.
I suspect that this is about advertising, OK, I understand the need but I don't want age related ads. they are never relevant to me and are just annoying.

This is a legal requirement, we need to be able to verify your age. It needs to be over 13 in the US, but other countries may have different requirements. Your information is not used to advertise to you in any way.
I am only in one country so I don't see why they can't just ask are you over whatever age requirement is in place for my location and in any case I'm pretty sure I had to give my age when I signed up for synch. There is also that I wasn't asked for my age when I stored a couple of pages in pocket so why now. As far as I'm concerned the less info I give up to the internet about myself the safer I am so I thank you for your help I appreciate it but I am not really satisfied with their apparent reasons for wanting my age.
