Hi binmay, I think the best workaround for the moment is to download (Save As) the image and then when it is in a local folder, you should be able to right-click > Set as Desktop. Does Windows show that option on pictures downloaded using Firefox?

As a new contributor I am insulted and for a moderator you are the most unprofessional behaving person I have seen in a long time with that responsibility. And for your information I chose not to engage in your childish behavior. If you seem to have a problem with me contact me privately.

Not to mention I am a disabled veteran with severe PTSD and I have trouble communicating effectively so thanks for pointing that out and escalating this instead of defusing it.

Hi jscher2000, Thanks again for the reply. I have tried to save the picture to a folder or download and when I right click it does not say desktop background pic. The only pics I can save are ones taken by my own camera. Maybe this will help.

Windows may have various security-related differences for content received from the internet than for locally-generated content. To test that theory, could you try this:

In Firefox, right-click > Copy an image you want to use as a desktop wallpaper.

Next, start the Windows Paint program (Start menu > All Programs > Accessories category).

Paste the image (Ctrl+v). If the blank canvas is too big, reduce that first since then pasting will resize it for you.

Then save the newly created image to a local folder and see whether you can set it as your desktop background.

If that works: then I suspect there is a security setting related to downloaded content, but I actually don't know where to look for that.

I can fix this but I would need you to send me a copy of your system registry so i can examine the system configuration. However I am not sure that is really allowed. Maybe you can talk one of these other contributors into looking at it.

Also I would recommend the Microsoft support forum not the Firefox forum. People over there are more familiar with Windows operating systems and their quarks.

Thanks to all of you for your answers and help. Unfortunately everything I tried did not work. I will try going to Microsoft . Thanks again.

I downloaded Windows 10...and having a terrible time getting Slideshow to work as DISPLAY (keeps turning off with "ERROR is PREVENTING the slide show from playing". Have tried Winodws 10 help screen and also forums, but now can't even seem to get just one picture to stay as background, without getting black screen (EXC takes me back to my Firefox sites which I have up and running). Also PC is really running sluggishly! Weary in Golden!
