Hi mace2, sorry you need to be back with another problem!

A critical Add-on-related certificate expired (which obviously should not happen). As a result, all verifications for that certificate are failing, preventing many extensions from being used, updated, or installed. So it's not your connection; it's everyone's connection.

The Add-ons team is working on a fix for this. Official updates are expected to be posted here:

Currently, the only workaround for the regular release of Firefox is to set your system clock back (for example, if your date is May 3, set to May 2; if your date is May 4, set to May 3). You might have to reinstall extensions after that, or maybe Firefox will detect the difference at your next shut down/restart. Changing the date may have other consequences, so I understand this option isn't ideal.

Mozilla has rolled-out a fix for this. The fix will be automatically applied in the background within the next few hours, you don’t need to take active steps.

In order to be able to provide this fix on short notice, they are using the Studies system. You can check if you have studies enabled

1. Go to [=] > Preferences > Privacy & Security.
2. Make sure Allow Firefox to install and run studies is check marked.

I you had it disabled, you can disable studies again after your add-ons have been re-enabled.

They are working on a general fix that doesn't need to rely on this and will keep you updated.

If I havemy firefox set as it is normally which is currently with all my Add-on removed should I be able to recover without making any changes?

I understood the options.

I currently have a message of "missing something" on my ff 66 version on another workstation I have not deleted the add-ons,

Will this be corrected eventually without downloading a beta or nightly or making a configuration change?

See the enclosed for what occurred first is all add-on disabled till now May-4-20:21 EST with no changes.

Well, to make matters worse, attempting to get ANY addon gives me the message:

"Download failed. Please check your connection"

REALLY??? And Google, CNN, Amazon, the BBC and EVERYTHING else happens to be working?

Hi gnappi, the expired certificate is used to verify not just installed add-ons but new ones you try to install. Same fix, too.

Note that extensions that do not come from the Add-ons website (i.e. are hosted elsewhere) may use another certificate chain.

The problem was corrected by updating to version 66.04 desktop however I notices that "firefox data collection and use" was activated even though my previous version didi not have it selected.

If I go back to older version say 66.0 I can install add-ons but I noticed some linux distros do not still work running 66.03 (Still pendng update to 66.04)

Any ideas why?
