when I download a youtube video onto desktop, will it play on a dvd player?
I'm using WaterFox 64Bit with Win 8.1 with 10Gb of Ram and all is fine... I can play and download youtube video's to my desktop but....
Will they play on my dvd player if I cut/paste them to the dvd disc? OR, can I download them directly to disc and have them play on dvd player?
OR...do I need to do something before I download to disc or what???
Thanks a Bunch!

The Video DownloadHelper add-on is an independently created program. You can check their site for whether they know how to burn downloaded videos to DVD: http://www.downloadhelper.net/support.php

Does the user manual for your DVD player say it can play digital files directly? If so, check the supported formats.
Otherwise, I think you need some video converting software that can burn a DVD in the standard format.
Since this question is not directly related to Mozilla software, you may want to seek out a forum more relevant to your player or to burning DVDs.
Thanks for the reply.... Sorry about that, I left out an important piece of info.... I will be using Mozilla's "Video Downloader Helper" as a Waterfox add-on. I'm already downloading youtube video's to my desktop and I was concerned whether or not it does a conversion to the Disc that goes into the dvd player.

Thanks for the input/data...I'll follow up my searches for additional info and maybe one day I'll get it together and be able to watch thru my 'new' dvd player with the correct formats...mine only does mp1 and not mp4
If you save the videos to the hard drive or to a DVD, VLC should be able to play them. VLC can play many different formats of videos.
Hmm, I assumed you were asking about DVDs to share videos with someone who doesn't have a computer or a fast connection. If your ultimate goal is to enjoy downloaded videos on a large screen, you might be able to bypass your DVD player and connect your computer directly to your TV. There are a variety of gadgets for this nowadays but the only thing I've tried myself is to connect directly using an HDMI cable (plus an adapter to connect the computer's mini-Displayport connector to the HDMI cable).
folks, you still are not understanding me....guess it's me, but I'll try again... If I'm downloading video's off of youtube thru Mozilla's Video Downloader helper, and down load them to my desktop....then copy them to a dvd disc...should they play on a dvd player?

That depends on your DVD player and what file formats it can play. Please check the manual.
Yes it is not a mater of whether you can play video files you download in the Firefox browser.
Some DVD and Blu-Ray players can play one or more video container formats. The common supported ones in this case are often AVI, MP4, and MKV. The players that can play one or more formats often times have a usb port.

What model is your dvd player and perhaps you can find information online if there is no manual.
