Hi After updating from 38.5.1 to 38.6 all the folders containing incoming mails seems empty in TB. But still exists as Windows folders and files:sbd and msf located in C:\Users\xxxxxx\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\yyyyy.default\Mail\Local Folders

Reverse to 38.5.1 (not easy to do) make the mails re appear in TB. According to French Forums "forums.mozfr.org" it seems that issue is linked to Lightening add-on. But in my case, the issue only occurs after updating.

Could you fix it ?

Regards

Hello, Maybe you can try to get in your options, and check you suncronisation settings. there should be a setting where you can change how many emails you want to see

Not really helpful. msf are indexes and sbd folder simply tell thunderbird it has a sub folder

Reverse to 38.5.1 (not easy to do) make the mails re appear in TB. According to French Forums "forums.mozfr.org" it seems that issue is linked to Lightening add-on. But in my case, the issue only occurs after updating.

I doubt your issue has anything to do with lightning. While there are issues, the manifest as menus not working and the folder pane not responding. You mention none of that. My guess is your Antii Virus/Firewall is blocking the latest version of Thunderbird from actually accessing the internet, so as our account is IMAP the content disappears.

I don't use IMAP but POP protocols, so mails (previous to change version) are stored in my computer. so nothing to do with Antivirus /Firewall.

sbd, msf just index: ok; in this case where are stored (in my computer) mails if POP protocols are used ?

So there are issues ! mine could be what you call "folder panel no responding" because when I said "folders containing incoming mails seems empty" that looks like.

And nobody in mozilla support to advice all users of the issue ?

Not solved. Byebye TB

see here: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/38.6.0/releasenotes/

TB 38.6.0 release note: For Windows systems on roaming profiles, could not display messages after Thunderbird update (related to Lightning updates)

That's it !

And your point is? Seriously, that says fixed! That is the issue I mentioned here https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1112643#answer-852136 and I know it is not fixed for everyone.

Open the add-on manager and disable Lightning. Did it fix your problem? if so good. If not that is not your problem

And nobody in mozilla support to advice all users of the issue ?

There have been about 20 folk appear in this forum asking questions. Why would we be advising 20 million people about something that affects less that 1% of them. information overload is a serious concern. There are probably lots more than that using Norton's security suites and therefore not able to get their mail. We are not telling them their choice of anti virus is questionable either.

not clear for me: - if the bug is supposed fixed by 38.6 - or if the bug appears when installing in 38.6

If I understand correctly now: - the bug appears when installing in 38.6 - linked to Lightenig installation

Correct ?

Whatever the case, - I don't try actually to install 38.6 - I process to moving to another mailing system because i can't accept that all my job could be compromise by such a bug

Thanks and regards

Reading https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1249894

It appears that the bug is more linked to Google Calendar function than Lightening. Not ok for me because I have Lightening istalled but not Google Calendar

The bug is classified as "major": it is realy !

You mention: exists as Windows folders and files:sbd and msf, but you do not say whether there are any mbox files which contain the emails - they do not have any extension. mbox files can be opened using a text editor like 'Notepad'. Are the mbox files missing? Post an image of the window if this helps clarify a point.

Mail\Local Folders but not your POP mail accounts. Do you use a deferred account - otherwise known as 'Global Inbox (Local Folders)' ?

yes mbox files (without extension) exist ! obviously because when reverse version, mails (pop, strored in mbox) are displayed.

do you think you are helping ?

re :do you think you are helping ? What sort of helpful comment is that supposed to be. I would have preferred you respond with answers to queries. So I'm assuming you do not use deferred accounts.

After downloading/installing version 38.5.1 or 38.6.0 Restart TB in SAfe Mode Help > restart with addons disabled

Report on results.

Well you best get what you can from Toad, because your totally unresponsive attitude to questions sees me pulling out of here. Your certainly not helping yourself as what you have deduced from your reading sounds like it is all wrong to me.
