There is no script , however there is a ?, when I click on it, it simply elongates a smaller rectangle within the window. I have uninstalled and re-installed three times now, to no avail. Whatever it is, it freezes firefox. HELP!!!! I looked below at your tips, but I cannot use firefox at all, so I cannot go to the help section.

Two out of three users reporting this problem have fingered the AOL Toolbar extension as the culprit, and one mentioned an old version of FoxTab set as the home page. (For example: A white box appears in the middle of screen and locks me out of Firefox)

In order to remove the problem extension, you probably need to start Firefox in its Safe Mode so that it doesn't run.

You'll have to shut down Firefox any way you can, for example:

  • Alt+F4
  • right-click its tile on the Taskbar > Close all windows
  • Task manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc)

To start Firefox in it Safe Mode, hold down the Shift key while double-clicking the shortcut.

A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Refresh).

Then you can go to the Add-ons page using either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the right, look for AOL.

Any luck?
