Why does Firefox keep updating when it knows it will not be compatible with extensions and plugins?
firefox now will not let me run videos or my birthday e-cards. i tried all of their solutions as much as i could but am not even vaguely a techie at 61. why do the insist on updates that render stuff i use daily useless? why do I have delete or downgrade stuff to get things to work? this is total nonsense.
i may leave firefox for anything else given this CONSTANT issues..nearly every update something is now not compatible..folks are not happy, firefox. i know i am not.
ISSUE: videos and e-cards do not work. period. i have downgrade flash and messed with realplayer to no avail.
HELP and SUGGESTIONS please

The current advise to solve most recent Flash problems is to downgrade from FlashPlayer's latest version, to an older one,
- look at our article Adobe Flash plugin has crashed - Prevent it from happening again that explains how to uninstall Flash 11.3 and install Flash 11.2
- an Adobe link is http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1022066 How do I revert to a previous version of Flash Player?
There have been more than one problem with FlashPlayer recently. Both FlashPlayer and Firefox staff are aware of and trying to fix some of these problems. In fact the latest release of Firefox 13.01 that you are on was partly to solve some of these problems.
I agree the rapid update cycle has caused problems, but it is now settling down and most software should be compatible, or have alternatives that are.
Browsers; like your Operating System, and some other software; have a problem of needing to update just to keep secure. If there are particular extensions you are looking for you may find this blog of interest: http://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2012/05/24/addons-firefox-3-6/

YIKES.. a guest was using my computer and saw a flash player update and accepted it and downloaded it.
so of curse the previous issues returned. i deleted the update and tried to revert to flash 10.3 and while the page will show up , adobe will no longer allow a download! REALLY. so now what?
help please.

Other blogs say it is a protected mode turned on, or real player is conflicting, so is Firefox 13 violating protections or do we have a three-way finger pointing thing?
For most users, we just want someone to update something so it goes away, the same way it arrived, when we trusted the updates.
PLEASE POST IN YOUR OWN NEW THREAD.
This is getting complicated. Flash Player problems are not necessarily the only subject of this thread and it is a solved thread so it would be best to open a new question.
The situation changes as new versions of Firefox and FlashPlayer are released, and both have updated within the last few days.
Regarding FlashPlayer problms with Flash 11.3 there appear to be three problems
- Real Player - that is best dealt with as a separate problem - so a first question has to be are you using Real Player and if so does that include video recording/downloading features ?
- Protected mode
Many problems on Windows Firefox relate to the use of protected mode by the Flash Payer 11.3 . Also note this is an issue only affecting recent Windows OS s . - Protected mode setting
it is possible to set this or unset it manually, it is also possible for installers to set or unset this so not only the version, but where you obtain it and what the installer is can make a difference.
The security level of these versions also needs considering, remember protected mode is itself a security enhancement.
last week i had the issue with not being able to see videos i wanted to download...old videos that had been download are viewable.)
the pronblem wa ssolved going back to an olde verison of flash...10.3...i could now download vis from u tube.
but today my guest downloads the latest version of flash and the old issue returned.
IMPORTANT..though the links to flash 10.3 exist and it looks like all is good. in the final step one gets a notice from adobe telling you there are newer version of flash and directs you to them..so 10.3 is NOT AVAILABLE..try it yourself and see.
am sorry this is such a mess. appreciate all the input and patience...
