Firefox 7.0.1 installed yesterday. McAfee Security is active and up to date, but your plugins check does not recognize the components. No explanation as to how to correct this. What to do?

In Tools | Addons | Extensions, McAfee Scriptscan for Firefox 14.4.1 and McAfee Site Advisor 3.4.0 are apparently enabled, as the Disable button is present.

In Tools | Addons | Plugins, McAfee SecurityCenter 11.0.575.0, McAfee SiteAdvisor 3.4.0.135, and McAfee Virtual Technician 6.0.1501.0 likewise are apparently enabled, as the Disable button is present.

But, when I click on 'Check to see if your plugins are up to date', these latter three McAfee components are 'unknown plugins'. The Research button just gives endless links that I don't know how to deal with.

Silverlight 4.0.60831.0 (which I don't use, not even sure what it is/does), Adobe Acrobat 10.1.1.33, Shockwave for Director 11.6.1.629 (not sure what this is, either), Shockwave Flash 11.0.1.152, and QuickTime Plug-in 7.7.1.0 are all reported as up to date. I hardly believe anything else is NOT up to date, as everything seems to update automatically. I know RealPlayer or RealSomething just updated at some point in all these installation woes.

Why does Firefox recognize some McAfee components in one window and not in another? Why does it not recognize all? Is my McAfee security (paid for and satisfactory) somehow disabled by Firefox? Am I at risk when using your browser?

The plugin check page only recognizes some common plugins that play media on web pages and not plugins added by security software like McAfee. So no need to worry about that. Just make sure that you keep all your software up to date, especially software that deals with internet access and security software (anti-virus software, firewall).

Thanks, so far Firefox seems to be working okay, with one exception, which I will post separately.
