I want to know if by downloading any add-on I expose myself to security threats or allow a hacker in. This includes regular add-ons, themes, collections, personas, plug-ins, and anything you can download from the Mozilla site. I would also greatly appreciate an easily noticeable link on the Mozilla home page to a page that briefly explains the level of security on the website, states what is and what is not safe on the website, and outlines Mozilla's procedure when it comes to allowing third parties to post downloads on its website.

Yes, all add-ons present in the official gallery are review by Mozilla. Approved add-ons are review throughoutly for security issues and stability problems, while experimental add-ons are reviewed in a lighter way, for viruses and obvious security problems and things like that.
