Can anyone help. Been using TB forever and never had this happen. I just had my computer off for 5 days while I was on a short vacation. I came home, started it up and opened my TB email and let all my new email load. While reviewing, and after deleting a few hundred emails, the same emails I just deleted began re-loading again, and again even a 3rd time. Not sure whey this was happening I closed TB (apparently a big mistake) and have not been able to get back into TB since. It crashes immediately, in regular and safe mode. I've tried un-installing and re-installing TB. Nothing works. Help!

In this case try to create a new profile, cancel the automatic configuration and import from your current profile. Warning, this needs some available space disk since it will duplicate information (the more so if you use POP3 accounts or archive mailboxes)

Try to start the thing offline thunderbird --ProfileManager then check 'start offline' then click 'run thunderbird'.

If you can succeed, at this point try to enable the mailboxes one by one.

This dis not solve the issue. Upon startup, the home screen comes up then immediately closes/crashes. I can't get into TB to change any settings or do anything.

I just finished fixing everything. Thank you for leading me in the right direction. I really appreciate it! This is the worst and most time consuming problem I've ever experienced with Thunderbird and I've been using it as long as I can remember. This was not something the average person could figure out. Not sure what happened with this latest update but I bet a lot of people will ditch TB as a result. Took me about 8-10 hours in all to figure out how to fix everything without loosing 15 years of files and then clean up triplicate records within 4 different email accounts. UGH! Please don't release anything this disastrous again...Please...Please...Please! I really love TB and want to continue to!
