Wasted space on small screen laptop
Hello! I moved to Linux and installed Thunderbird so I'm still learning. Thanks for your patience.
I love Thunderbird on my desktop and its associated 27-inch screen. Best email client I've used. My laptop with a small screen suffers from what I think is wasted space. There has do be a better way to arrange this!
I've attached a photo of my first and worst layout. Look how little space is just for reading the message! I did some reading and discovered wide view so some landscape recovered for reading the message, but still almost half the screen 'wasted' with header information: From, Subject, Reply to, Me, needlessly displayed twice, above and below. Yes, I can open the selected email in its own window, but there again, 40 percent of the screen is wasted: From, Subject, Reply to, Me, To protect your privacy.... There should be a streamlined, more elegant solution.
And thanks but buying a bigger laptop is not in the cards this year. All other suggestions welcome.

I would try View/Layout/Vertical View. The Mail Toolbar can be hidden via View/Toolbars, the Header Pane buttons can be modified or hidden entirely with Message Header Toolbar Customize, and the Header Pane can be decreased with Compact Headers. Your Menu Bar is already hidden, but pressing Alt will show it temporarily when necessary. The font for the Threads and Folder Panes can be reduced to show more content in the same space, with a simple userChrome file.
