Removed; reloaded. Ran Malwarebytes, System Mechanic, and AVG. Removed, wiped directory, reloaded. Never runs.

Hold the shift key while starting Thunderbird and continue in safe mode when prompted.
Go to the add-ons manager and remove Lightning.
On the toolbar 
then 
If you need a calendar, restart Thunderbird and reinstall lightning.
