Updates are offered automatically and you can easily disable this in the Settings and in about:config.
- Go to the orange Firefox button > Options > Advanced > Update > Never check for updates
- The method I mentioned above works but after disabling it through there, when you would go to Help > About Firefox, it would update regardless of that setting so you can use the about:config method as well.
You can set these prefs in about:config to disable automatic updating:
app.update.auto - false
app.update.enabled - false
app.update.silent - false
