Master password automatically removed when I logged on today!!!
I started Firefox today and there was no Software security device dialog box. All my passwords and related URLs were on show. Strangely the master password option was un-ticked and had recreate the master password. This is a serious security issue as anyone could have seen my passwords. I use a Windows 8 OS if that helps.

It is not recommended that you change this feature, but if you still want to your can try the following:
- Go to
about:config
in Firefox - Find the string
security.password_lifetime
- Change this string's value to the amount of days that you wish to keep your master password valid
Please report back soon.
WARNING: Changing your password's lifetime can pose a serious security threat. This includes, but is not limited to identity theft and online account theft. Please do so at your own risk!

This is a security feature. The passwords will only be saved for 30 days.
Is it just the master password or saved passwords as well? My saved passwords were visible. Is there any way to deactivate the feature or any other method to protect method to protect my saved passwords?
Thanks
That shouldn't be possible.
Did you reset Firefox or did Firefox otherwise create a new profile?
Do you have any extensions that might have cause this?

Great thank you very much
The security.password_lifetime pref doesn't have any effect in Firefox, so there is no need to change this pref.
A search only comes up with the line in the related pref file.

(the tree for Thunderbird and SeaMonkey give results)
