When I close all tabs and the last one open is blank, on starting up Firefox 10 it restores the last web page I had open and not the blank one. I purposely don't want any windows opening from web sites when Firefox starts. Just blank. However if I leave web sites open when I close FireFox then I want those restored. The problem is when I don't want any, and close them all, I get one last one I don't want.

Hi bmazak,

I'm not sure if what you are trying to do is possible, but there are a few options. First, try typing about:blank in your address bar. If you save that page as your home page, you should be able to start Firefox with a blank page every time. Then if you want to restore your previous session, you could go to History > Restore

If you want to have the option of having a blank(ish) page or restoring your tabs, you should try making about:home your home page. It will open with a search bar (the page is quite blank otherwise), but it will also have the option to restore your last session at the bottom of the page. I know it isn't exactly what you are aiming for, but it might be close enough to work.

The other option would be to search the add-ons repository for some of the Tab/Bookmark add-ons. I wouldn't be surprised if there was one that would work.

Hopefully this helps!

Set the pref browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab to false on the about:config page to prevent closing the last tab from closing that window and make a close button appear if only one tab is open.

Thanks Mat,

That did not work but after updating to 10.0 the problem seems to have gone away. I have another problem to report though. I went to give an Idea for future versions https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/createaccount.cgi when my 8.0 version was installed, and it said I had to upgrade first. So I went to Help about and clicked on Check for updates. It updated it to 10.0 and said checking for updates to add-ons. It said correctly that the Net Framework 1.0 was not compatible and said would you like to search for a compatible one. Clicking yes it came back with Net-Framework 1.3.1 will be installed and start to do that. Well the completion bar was full and the little circle just kept going forever and ever and ever. Finally I clicked the X in the upper right hand corner to close it. then I went back to the leave and idea for next version and clicked on it again and it said ops you have a old version. Not so. Then I went to the download page for Firefox and downloaded 10.0 After installing it it stopped saying I had an old version. No question for net-frame 1.3.1 that time. and 1.0 is still disabled. What the Heck was that all about? When I go back to that page I still get the update request page = http://input.mozilla.com/en-US/download#idea , This should be fixed with some other page. What a hassle.
