Can I have consistent dialogues with devs of Android FireFox beta on each specific issue? If yes, how/where?

Current interface of FireFox and FireFox beta for Android allows to send issues, thanks or ideas from the home page. On the other hand, I don't see any links which would allow to track ideas and issues; and for consistent feedback that's vital, I think. I would love to give consistent feedback (for instance, on interaction with keyboard) and understand at what stage this or that issue is.

The question is, are there any appropriate tools that just are not linked at the home page and how can I have dialogues on feedback instead of just throwing it somewhere?

Regards, YL.

I'm a Firefox mobile developer. Keyboard issues is one of the factors in our current rewrite of the interface. If you enable the installation of non-market apps then you can try our work by downloading Firefox Aurora http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/mobile/aurora/

Hello.

Right, so Aurora now has the following problems:

  • ctrl + space doesn't switch the language (as it is in FireFox non-beta)
  • shift + left moves the beginning of the selection, so doesn't allow to start selecting backwards
  • ctrl + arrows doesn't work as at least in Windows (jump over words for left/right and over paragraphs for up/down)
  • shift + up, as shift + down, can't be used twice for backward selection
  • ctrl + a is expected to "select all" (which it currently doesn't)
  • ctrl + z and ctrl + y are expected to do "undo" and "redo" (also don't)

Ok, that's all that I can see by now.

By the way, I have two questions:

  • are all the issues listed above issues of FireFox, or some of them should be addressed to the developers of the keyboard software?
  • what is the status of Aurora, compared to FireFox beta?

Regards, YL.

And, what is very important for now, in FireFox (non-beta) ctrl + space doesn't work for changing the language, so I can't use my hardware keyboard for writing in Russian.

One more thing which would be useful (and expected since the keyboard markup) is fn + arrows = home/PgUp/PgDn/End.

Are you using a bluetooth keyboard, a tablet with a keyboard dock (asus transformer) or a software keyboard installed from the market?

I use asus slider (as I understand the keyboard is a "dock").

Ok, let me summarize the state of keyboard shortcuts support.

Below, FF is FireFox (for Android, of'course) 8.0, FFb is FireFox beta 11.0, A is Aurora 12.0a2. The numbers of versions may be not correct: I got them for system settings -> apps -> app management, but for FFb they didn't change during the latest update which fixed the {arrows didn't move cursor} bug. Where do I find the actual version number? All the three apps don't have an "about" menu item.

change language (ctrl+space): FF - FFb + A + (for FF it's the most painful issue)

copy/cut/paste (ctrl+c/x/v), select all (ctrl+a), undo/redo (ctrl+z/y) are not supported in each of FF, FFb, A

selection with shift+arrows: FF + FFb + A : partial support (works correctly only with "down" and "right")

jump over words and paragraphs (ctrl+arrows) and home/end/PgUp/PgDn via fn+arrows (as marked on the keyboard) doesn't work in all the three apps.

Are there an accesskey engine in FF/FFb/A? In FireFox for desktop, I use alt+shift+accesskey in some pages (mostly in the TiddlyWiki editor), but this doesn't work in FF, FFb and A.

Best regards and looking forward, YL.

Currently, both FF (10.0.3) and FFb (12.0) have the same major issue: arrows don't work for moving the cursor in a text field.

Weird thing. FF beta got an "update" in Google Play, I updated, but systems sais it's still 12.0. On the other hand, arrows work in some text fields (but not in every one).

Dear developers,

there are still major problems in interaction of FF, FFb and Aurora with keyboard, including not-working arrows in FF.. Is there any hope that this will be fixed?
