How can I create a toolbar with Google Search in it? The explanations in the FAQ's did not help. Thank you in advance.

My "search" toolbar disappeared, somehow ASK. com took over the search requests, and there is no option in the "Tools/Options" menu to make a specific search engine to be the default.

Yes, it disappeared. When I type an addres that is not quite correct in the address bar, instead of Google it is ASK who enters into the game and suggests sites.

It seems that you have two problems that need to be fixed.

See if the Search Bar is in the Customize Palette. If so, drag it back to the Navigation Bar.

As far as Ask taking over the Location Bar searches, this pref - keyword.URL - controls the search engine that is used in the Location Bar. You can change to Google, but chances are it will get reset back to Ask when Firefox is started the next time or when your PC is started up the next time you use it. You need to get rid of that Ask garbage that changed it to begin with. Could be an extension - Ask or "search" in the name; or maybe in the Control Panel > Add&Remove Programs - anything you don't recall installing your self, which is related to Ask or "search" - "search helper" or "search assistant" are prime names they hide that stuff under.
