After upgrading to 4.0 I don't have my Norton Identity Safe "button." Where did it go and can I get it back?
Norton 360 has an "identity safe" button for secure logins that worked great with Firefox 3.5. Not so with 4.0. How can I make this work?

Symantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. They have indicated that for Norton 360 they plan to release an update to Norton 360 to support Firefox 4 in early May - http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
I do not know about the time scale for updates for other Norton products. Pending the update by Symantec, if you want to use the Norton add-ons you will need to downgrade to Firefox 3.6.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

Thanks for you time and the excellent suggestions that you made. Here is a suggestion to Firefox. Unless I missed it, there was no warning that the upgrade to 4.0 would cause other software or add-ins to cease functioning. Maybe I should have known this, but I did not. I am not a happy firefox user right now. As soon as I can, I will downgrade to something else.
This really sucks.
I didn't even have a warning, it just updated from the old version to 4.0. I am not happy at all. I'm afraid to downgrade back to 3.6 for fear of losing all my personal information, passwords and bookmarks.
My Norton Identity Safe is finally on the toolbar, but it doesn't work.
I don't see a "Undo" button that used to be a feature. And 3/4's of the time I can't get to the history of the previous screens, where it used to drop down so you could go back 10 screens without having to click on the back arrow 10 times and wait each time.
Why did you release 4.0 when there are so many bugs???
With such an important and useful tool as Norton Identity Safe, for Mozilla to release Firefox 4.0 when it is still imcompatible with this security module is UNFORGIVEABLE!!! I have just lost 250 logins -- usernames and passwords. I may be a member of MENSA, but I can't store that much paper, or remember that many logins. BADLY DONE, MOZZILLA!!! BADLY DONE!!!
Norton have a history of being late with updating their add-ons, expect the same when Firefox 5 is released.

I don't appreciate being upgraded to Firefox 4.0 automatically only to lose a valuable tool like Norton Identity Safe. Firefox always blames Symantec for this problem. It's happened before. I'm going to go back to Internet Explorer, which I haven't used in years! I want to thank Tony E. for helping me downgrade to Firefox 3.6. Firefox, I used to LOVE you, now I want a divorce.
You had that problem with Norton before, and you still went ahead and allowed Firefox 4.0 to be installed?
"Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me a second time, shame on me."
OMG OMG OMG!!!
How dare Mozilla allow users to upgrade without Identity Safe!!!
I've wasted 4 hours figuring this out and going back to 3.6.
THANK YOU TONY E.

This hotfix solved the problem for me: http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-Internet-Security-Norton/Firefox-4-compatibility-hotfix-is-now-available/td-p/428894
O.K. I need my Identity Safe and want to get it back so with the information given I'm scared as I don't want to loose my hundreds of bookmarks. I need more information on how to uninstall 4.0. Guide lines please!!!!! I'm not the most savvy computer person. Also I agree that Firefox should not have released or at the least should have warned us of loosing Identity Safe.
