I have the same problem.

I have this same problem. Here's some things I've noticed, however:

1. If you click "Retry" it will bring up your requested web page 9 out of 10 times. Although this seems like a "solution" -- this problem shouldn't happen in the first place.

2. If you run Mozilla Firefox in Safe Mode this problem doesn't appear to exist at all.

I really hope Mozilla recognizes this as a legitimate bug and soon releases a fix to it.

Edit: I use Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium

You need to figure out which extension is causing your problem, as when in SafeMode that problem doesn't exist - so it isn't a "Bug" in Firefox.

After reviewing the supplied link and going through the processes of individually checking themes (which took no time because I have no additional themes except for the default one), extensions, and resetting the Toolbars & Controls it appears I have found my personal solution. (Would this fix all 49 issues with this bug? I doubt it.)

I use AVG Anti-Virus and it appears in my personal case the Extension with their software seemed to be contributing to the bug in some form or fashion. Granted, this was only 15 minutes worth of work and "testing" various combinations (I have one other extension: Java) but this seems to be the issue.

I'm not 100% certain this is the cause though. What else it could be hasn't presented itself, but for now it is a temporarily solution. I hope it is the permanent solution but only time will tell.

I have never had issues with Mozilla Firefox until this 3.6.12 update, even with my current extensions. Since the patch I have also noticed a handful of other "inconveniences" when it came to viewing web pages but, alas, disabling my AVG extension seemed to resolve these as well.

Edit: It appears that the problem is still present, even with my AVG Extension disabled. Check this off the list of possible fixes. I may run an extended use of Mozilla in SafeMode to see if I come across the issue.

Edit #2: Well that didn't take long. It appears, despite my original post, that the problem does in fact persist in Mozilla Firefox SafeMode. Unable to connect to server.

With my original posts, however, clicking "Retry" seems to connect roughly 7 - 9 times out of 10. I hate to say it despite my love for this software -- but I still believe it's a bug with the latest version of 3.6.12.

My fix? Go back to 3.6.10, and wait for them to get it right. <sigh>

I would, however I haven't found a download for the previous version...

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

I did a little test. It seems that my new router is the culprit causing the problems. Perhaps it is a firewall built into it or some other setting but when I remove the router and plug my PC directly to my modem I have absolutely no internet issues whatsoever.

Any clues as to what this could be?

Did you try to reset the router?

Make sure your router security settings are the same with the computer security settings this might help with the connecting to Msn issue
