On my Mac, FF3.6.4 redirects almost everything to some nonsense Google screen or puts up an Apache 404 (can't connect) screen. It will not even connect to my Earthlink start page, won't even go to Mozilla! I had to use Safari to ask this question!

In Firefox 3.6.4 the default connection settings have been changed to "Use the system proxy settings". See "Connection settings": Firefox can't load websites but other browsers can

You can find the connection setting here: Firefox > Preferences > Advanced : Network : Connection If you do not need to use a proxy to connect to internet then select No Proxy

I have the same exact problem and it just all the sudden started happening to all the computers in the house, it doesn't matter if I am using Firefox or IE I get the same error 404 code. And it doesn't matter if its google.com or yahoo.com or bing.com, I cannot use any search engines, however, I can browser the internet just fine. Usually the search engines work, however if I click on a link it takes me to a traffic-accidents.com website... What is going on? I have gone to proxy setting and have chosen each different type of setting I can, but still I have no idea what the problem is.

Obviously its a network issue, a proxy issue... However, I have no idea how to fix it. Someone please help. I use gmail and I cannot even log into my email account.

Please help

You should probably deactivate the add-on "Search Settings Plugin". At least that helped me...
