Firefox instant crash on start-up
I've got a persistent issue where Firefox immediately crashes when I open it initially.
Starting it again after this crash works totally fine, though if I close out and re-open a few times it will crash consistently (after every 3-5th-ish open).
It has been happening for the last year or so, and despite clean installs of the browser as well as other diagnostics it won't go away. It's incredibly annoying :(
Hoping the Firefox community can give me a hand and help solve this.
Cheers, Ciaran

Please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.
The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.
- Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A list of Submitted/Unsubmitted Crash Reports will appear, similar to the one shown below.
- Copy the 5 most recent Submitted Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.
Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.
(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)
Thank you for your help!
More information and further troubleshooting steps can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) article.
Hey TyDraniu, thanks for the reply.
Unfortunately going to about:crashes just gives me a message that 'No crash reports have been submitted.'
I've confirmed that the crash reporter is enabled but nothing seems to be logged.
I'll attempt more of those troubleshooting steps in the article you shared (though any other bits of advice would be much appreciated :)).
You appear to be using a rather outdated Firefox 96 version according to the user agent.
- userAgent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64; rv: 96.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/96.0
Any specific reason for using such an old version and not the current release ?
You can try the current Firefox 106.0.5 release to see if it behaves better.

Hey cor-el - that's really interesting! It says I'm up to date when I check in browser (attached a screenshot).
I just downloaded the latest installer through https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/#product-desktop-release which indeed shows it at 106.0.5.
I've just upgraded to this version and it so far doesn't seem to crash based on how I was reproducing it before :)
I'll do a some more testing but if it doesn't pop up again this evening, I'll be sure to flag the problem as solved.
Thanks a bunch!
