Migrate profile to new installation
I am trying to migrate my profile to a new installation. I only have the contents of the "Profile" folder but nothing outside of that.
I have installed a new copy of Thunderbird 102.0.1 on my Windows 11 PC.
I launch Thunderbird and using Help > Troubleshooting Information I locate the profile folder. Then I close thunderbird and copy my profile folder backup from the previous installation into the profile folder for the current Thunderbird installation.
When I try to launch Thunderbird however it still behaves as if this was a fresh install with no accounts, emails, etc.. and wants to walk me through setting up a new existing email account.
Would really appreciate any help in getting this working.

First delete in local/Roaming folders the Thunderbird folder. Start TB 102 and create a profile. If you still have the old profile backup ( I presume from TB version 91) do the following. From Tools import ( you can import in TB 102 emails, accounts, calendars).
If you failed, uninstall TB 102. Delete Thunderbird folder in Local and Roaming folders. Install TB 91. Create a profile and using import-export NG tools import the data from the old profile. There will be a case to copy the contents of the old profile folder into the new one.

Thanks for this suggestion, unfortunately that did not work. Tried it and an error message was displayed that it didn't work.
One of the new features of 102 is the ability to import profiles. Click Tools>Import and select the option that imports profiles. It's that easy. :)

I was looking to upgrade from my current 91.13.0 to 102 and checked out the information on the forum to see what was the best way to do this.
I followed instructions from the forum to first delete the Thunderbird folder in AppData/Local and Roaming folders, restarted my laptop and then installed the latest version, 102.2.1 from the Thunderbird website.
I didn't create a profile in 102 but followed your instructions and imported my profile from 91 and it worked perfectly. As I used another laptop for this to allow me to compare current 91 information v 102 information, all the accounts, settings etc are identical.
There was a little cosmetic setup of the screen layouts etc but it was painless so thanks for your information.
