Hi Tony, on the error page, there should be an "Advanced" button where you can find a SEC_ERROR code (or similar ALL_CAPS_TEXT) that could help us better diagnose the problem. It also will have method for viewing the certificate that Firefox says it cannot verify as being from the real site.

For reference, this article describes the most common error codes: How to troubleshoot security error codes on secure websites.

Of course, what we worry about is a "man in the middle" of your connection that can see all of your theoretically secure browsing. Our goal is to help you rule that out if we can.

Hi Tony, what do you mean by "a disaster" and "horrendous" -- what's happening on your Firefox these days?

Also, what is the problem with Amazon and Google. Are you getting errors trying to log into those sites? What is the error, or what is the behavior?

Note: Some versions of Quantum change how the data files are set up, so they are not backward compatible.

If you want to try an old version, create a new blank profile for it. We can copy some profile files to it later.

Did Not Connect: Potential Security Issue

Firefox detected a potential security threat and did not continue to www.google.com because this web site requires a secure connection.

What can you do about it?

www.google.com has a security policy called HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), which means that Firefox can only connect to it securely. You can’t add an exception to visit this site.

The issue is most likely with the web site, and there is nothing you can do to resolve it.

If you are on a corporate network or using anti-virus software, you can reach out to the support teams for assistance. You can also notify the web site’s administrator about the problem.

Antivirus clients like Kaspersky has been known to cause such issues if you allow it to intercept secure connections.
