profile not found
I had used thunderbird 68.1.1. There was a popup message " thunderbird cannot be updated, please download new version" I have downloaded 68.1.2 and installed it while 68.1.1 was open when i closed 68.1.1 and opened thunderbird it opened 68.1.2 but it did not find my old profile: there was no account or local folders. I checked the existance of my profile folder and it still exist. in my control panel: item "programs": there existed thunderbird 68.1.1 en also thunderbird 68.1.2 I removed both and reinstalled 68.1.2 but again no profile showed. Must I reinstall 68.1.1 again; where can i find this? Or is there another solution?

re Must I reinstall 68.1.1 again; where can i find this?
if you want to reinstall version 68.1.1, then uninstall Thunderbird first. Then install from here: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/68.1.1/
If using Windows OS, then click on 'win32' select language of choice download the thunderbird setup exe file.
You did not mention whether you have always used Thunderbird window 32bit ?
Windows OS can be 32bit or 64bit.
In Thunderbird there are also two types. Previously there was only windows 32bit versions and they work perfectly ok on both Windows 32bit OS and Windows 64bit OS.
Now there is a windows 64bit version and some issues have been noticed, so they are still advising using 32bit versions if you used them before.
Can you elaborate a bit.
Thunderbird:
Was the version 68.1.1 a windows 64bit or a windows 32bit version?
Was the version 68.1.2 a windows 64bit or a windows 32bit version?
Where did it install ? In the 'Programs' folder or in the 'Programs (x86) folder?
I use 32 bit. It did install in Programs (x86). I downloaded it from the download button on www.thunderbird.net but I found the solution: I started the 68.1.2 profile manager and I selected the right profile folder and clicked: start thunderbird. then thunderbird 68.1.2 opened with the profile: my account and local folders. when i closed thunderbird and reopened it: it opened again with the right profile. maybe that was mentioned in your blog link: i did not yet read it. Any case thanks for your help
