Why is the new default behaviour to create a new profile? I have no interest in firefox sync, and the old sqllite file works fine in the new profile.
Why is the new default behavior to create a new profile? I was just curious, as I've been helping others to migrate their profiles all day. Sync is not something I am interested in as I prefer to keep my browsing history to myself, IE on this physical laptop, as much as possible, especially at work as per policy.
Old places.sqllite works fine in the new profile dir, so everything appears to have been compatible to simply migrate the old profile...
Was just curious about the rationale. Still the best browser there is.

hi czwarts01, firefox 67 introduced a feature called "dedicated profiles". this allows users to install multiple firefox versions (like release and nightly versions) side-by site - each of them will be using its own profile, since sharing the same profile across multiple versions is not supported (profiles are not downwards compatible).
this is done by looking at the install path - as long as your firefox installation folder isn't changing, there actually shouldn't be any new profiles created though...
I wish that when a new release of Firefox is installed, the same default profile in use with the release I am currently running is selected as the default profile when the new release of Firefox is first started. I cannot get Sync... to restore my Default profile from the previous active release.
This is truly annoying because Mozilla issues as many as two updates a week. Please stop installing a "new" profile that has useless settings and information in it and automatically use the default profile that was being used by the previous release of Firefox.
Doing this will let me get all the bookmarks, passwords, etc. that I have built up over the years in the new release. I don't mind signing in to Firefox Accounts to reestablish the sync but I do resent having to go to about:profiles and find my old default profile and set it to the default in the new release.
