YES. I've always had Ff delete cookies, browsing, history on close. but have only noticed recently I can't find pages i thought I'd saved. when saving a 'web page, complete', everything looks good. as soon as i close Ff the html file gets deleted with no trace in windows recycling bin.

now i have to keep juggling files while the browser is still open.

i know windows itself has a tendancy to delete the content folder if you chose to delete a .html file but in this instance the folder remains and only the page goes.

Separate Security Issue: Update your Flash Player Note: Windows users should download the ActiveX for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the ActiveX.

Flash Player Version: Version 28.0.0.126

How and where are you saving the web pages?

I would be very troubled if setting Firefox to clear browsing and download history ALSO removed a downloaded file. If you temporarily turn that feature off, does it make any difference? Here's what I mean:

  • Windows: "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options
  • Mac: "3-bar" menu button (or Firefox menu) > Preferences
  • Linux: "3-bar" menu button (or Edit menu) > Preferences
  • Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it

In the left column, click Privacy & Security. Then on the right side, in the History section, make sure you have "Firefox will: Use custom settings for history".

Click the "Settings" button across from "Clear history when Firefox closes" and uncheck Browsing & Download history and OK the change.

When you exit Firefox, is the saved page still removed?

If that helped, does turning the setting back on bring back the problem?

okay played with the 'use custom settings for history' turned off the 'browsing and download history' saved a google search result - killed Ff. still there turned clearing 'browsing and download history' back on saved another google search result. killed Ff and page wasn't deleted BUT. thinking there might be something different with this page https://math.stackexchange.com/questions/270767/find-intersection-of-two-3d-lines as it still saves - and gets deleted on Ff close. dunno what else is wrong now but Ff stays on 'use custom settings for history' EVEN when i switch it back to 'never remember history'

How are you saving the page? What commands are you using?

Oppen a file browser to the folder you are saving the page. Is the file/folder created? Can it be accessed?

Then close Firefox. What happens?

Firefox displays "Never remember history" if you have checked the box for "Always use private browsing mode." In that mode, you don't need to set Firefox to delete history when it closes; that happens automatically.

I don't know why one particular page or site would have its saved pages deleted and others are not. ??

What security software do you have?

It is possible that security software (anti-virus, firewall) is causing the problem. Try to disable security software temporarily to see if that makes a difference.
