the Title drop down fails and the submission wont go without it, then another dropdwon further down failed. Both worked in IE.

This is yet another website failure along with others noted recently all through the new Firefox. Keep having to use IE to resolve these.

In all the years of using Firefox never ever had this.

Its c%$p compared to its former self.

Why meddle with it when it was working fine ?

Hi, backed up profile and bookmarks as per links, made notes of where my extensions had been obtained from, as no mention of saving those etc ! refreshed ff, hope to get firefox back to as I saw it, as it alters the basic interface with loads of artwork. google now home page so all that stuff gone.

Tested that money expert link and title drop down now works :-) added in photobucket fix and still works. added in Ublock extension and drop down fails.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/

Ublock is at fault.

I have visited website for Ublock but cannot see any way of making contact so unless you guys can fathom out his site, it will continue to make that fault. (why do they make it so difficult for feedback ).

Now to try and restore bookmarks etc.

Well it is a Developer so no Idea why. It is up to them to maintain and answer. What you can do in uBlock is to accept all for that site in the settings when you click to open, click all Red to Green or just Click the big Blue Icon and disable it till you have finished.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

Hi, having followed the backup steps for bookmarks and profile folder, restoring them is not easy. Bookmarks followed the steps and selected the html file and it said not admissable or something like that, I saw a dec3 backup and chose that.

not a good start but I hope that was as good as if my backup had ben recognised. why was the backup made with the copy paste following the steps not admissable ?

now it gets worse, I had copy pasted the profile folder to a safe place, I now read the restore profile and it says if same name, copy paste it, i see the profile location has two new named folders, oh dear, mine has a different number, now what ? it doesnt say what to do to 'same location' if there are two new folders there !

HELP !!

just knew this wouldn't go as hoped.

I have 2 also, one old one and one newer, I just left it as can run with and not a issue. Now there also should be a folder on your desk top called old Firefox data . so have enough copies. Make a copy of the of both and store elsewhere, can never go wrong if have copies. Ok, this is it : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/recovering-important-data-from-an-old-profile

oh cripes... 288 files 127 folders exist in the more recent of the two folders I see at C:\ users\myname\appdata\ etc etc address to my profile folder.

article says :-

Click the Firefox menu Fx57Menu , then click Exit.
Right-click on a file you want to copy and choose Copy.
Open the new Firefox profile folder. I have two there, I presume I open that with the recent date ?
Right-click inside the profile folder and choose Paste.

Repeat steps 4-6 for each file you wish to transfer over to your new profile folder.

288 files127 folders, so do I do all ? reading on it says no.

While copying your personal data from an old Firefox profile to a new Firefox profile, it is possible that you could copy over the file that is causing the problem you are trying to get rid of ! The more files you copy over, the greater the chance of this happening. It is therefore recommended that:

You copy over only the minimal amount of files that contain your most important data that you simply can't live without.

How am I supposed to know which ones they are ???

You copy over a few files at a time, and then check that the problem you are trying to get rid of hasn't returned.

with that overwhelming mass of gobbledegook names, 288 files, 127 flders. I havent a clue which are essential and which to leave alone.

following those steps given earlier in thread, I backed up my profile folder and bookmarks, then restoring bookmarks failed from backup so what seemed an ok thing to do failed, but the recent bookmark option saved the day there, as for this profile replacement ye gods !!!!! I am now faced with two of a different folder name, so just copying back my folder seems not possible, yet I backed it up as one does thinking its a simple paste it back in. I have pages of profile copying stages, from Mozilla instructions, on making new profiles, and so on, printed off incase this I am doing loses me firefox, page upon page of profile stages one can consider or do, its nuts,...one needs to be Spock to understand all this. I am experienced in PCs but have never seen pages of steps like this for a simple profile. and having various profiles, I am me, I am wanting just one for me. I now seem to have two , one recently dated, and then there is my folder from when I started this, so there are three of me.

I want one of me...I cant see how one would want three profiles to be jumping between.

Your link is for restoring my original backup ... I presume I copy contents of my backup folder to the recent one., but havent a clue which files to copy !

I try for copying my backup foler in and zapping the other two, but firefox doesnt work, so restore them back !

I cant see which files to copy when there are 288 files 127 folders within the one that is there. No one could be expected to understand that stage.

Just how do I get this firefox back to how it was when life was simple a week or so ago ?

I WISH TO FIC THIS BIG PROBLEM ...THAT... ALSO I have lost the line at the top that says File, favourites etc.

I cant go file >save as and save a web page, is that to do with needing to restore my backed up profile ?

why is all that gone now ? I NEED THAT BACK AS WELL. Why does refresh firefox kill off that most essential menu ?

What a mess !

Would I be better off with ripping out Firefox and installing from scratch ?

even then I lose everything I have built up over the years. All these changes to Firefox have caused this, life was easy once.

I want my ability brought back to select file at top of page and save a webpage , and my profile.
