Options for where to open URLs from other applications (reuse tab, new tab, new window)
In about:config, I changed the browser.link.open_newwindow value from 1 to 0 and I don't like the behavior. I changed the 0 back to 1, but the behavior doesn't revert to opening links in a new tab or window. Does anyone have the default settings for all options? Thanks in advance for your help.

These prefs only divert where to open a link that specifies a target window. A link that opens in the same tab will still open in the same tab. You need to middle-click the link or hold the Ctrl key and left-click the link to force opening the link in a new tab.

hi, you can set all about:config preferences to their default by control+clicking them and then resetting them.
Note that the valid values for browser.link.open_newwindow are only 1, 2, 3 and not 0.
I know how to change the value, I need to understand what to change the values to. For example, browser.link.open_newwindow, this was originally a 3. I changed it to 1. Then I changed it back to 3, but the behavior is the same on 3 as it is on 1. Ditto for browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction. I changed the number from 1 to 0 and then back to 1, but all links continue to open in the same tab. I want links to open in new tabs. I hope I'm explaining myself ok. I'm not very adept at this.
I changed browser.link.open_newwindow.restriction to 2 and browser.link.open_newwindow to 3 and all links still open in the same tab. I'm trying to get links to open in a new tab in the same window. What am I doing wrong?

Thank you for your help. Apparently I was mistaken when I thought what I wanted was the original behavior. I'm going back to Safari.
