Show Inbox while writing new message
I often have to refer to a previous message either sent to me or that I'd sent earlier when I write a new message - but there's no tab to get back to the Inbox or Sent box. I've tried to 'Customise' but there's no such option; and 'Restore down' only makes the whole Thunderbird window smaller.
Also, add a new column - date deleted. I don't always remember the dates of the messages that come in, so when I delete one accidentally, it's hard to find to undelete.
Please will you make this a feature in your next update? - otherwise I love Thunderbird and wish I had switched earlier, my previous mail clients being Eudora and eM.
Thank you, kapuchin

As Thunderbird has no record of when a deletion occurs, it would be quite hard to implement a date field in the mail list. Perhaps you need to empty your trash more often.
EUDORA did this some 30 years ago. And when I googled "eudora + sort by deleted date", it would appear Outlook does. Can it not be made aware when POP3 downloaded messages are in the 'Deleted' box?
I see Zero reason to need that information. Sorting by order received would give you the last email added to the folder as it uses the file offset as the "order". But your welcome to file a bug for it. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/ I really do think you will need a strong case for it's inclusion. As the product has been around 10 years and I can find nothing in bugzilla for such a feature. After a decade it is unusual that there is no one else that has had a similar request.
As I said, unintended deletion - it's easier to find to undelete if I find it in the sorted deleted column. Never mind - Thunderbird clearly can't do this.
The first part of my question was whether it would be possible to access both Inbox and Sent boxes while composing. I sometimes need to refer to info from either or both.

I linked to a method for doing that.
