PDF.JS is no longer compatible with Firefox 35 & above. Why is it not being removed?
Noticed that PDF Viewer PDF.JS is not compatible with Firefox version 35 & above. Then why is it not removed? Vin

Since you already have it installed, why not just update it?
As far as "user" vs "developer" goes, as the other contributor mentioned, pdf.js is already built into Firefox for quite awhile now, and is enabled by default. There's nothing that needs to be installed unless you want to keep testing the "extension" version which updates with new features and patches more frequently than the 6 week update schedule for Firefox releases. If that is the case, just update it.
https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js Scroll down to Getting Started > Browser Extensions, Firefox --> Development Version = click it - then "Allow" from the door-hanger that appears below the Location Bar on the left side.
I didn't see your 2nd answer in a row - about PDF.JS at the Add-ons website. I don't see it listed there any more. I have no idea if or why it was removed, but it still updates from that domain, for users who already have it installed. If any one else wants that extension, I guess they'll have to get it from GitHub. I can only speculate that overall it is sufficiently developed by now that Mozilla doesn't need any more users to test the advanced version and the code that comes in Firefox works good enough.

PDF.JS is now built into Firefox. You can remove this addon
That's the PDF.JS extension from GitHub (more advanced than what is built into Firefox), and it's a few versions out of date! https://github.com/mozilla/pdf.js/ v 1.0.907 is shown as the latest stable version here: http://mozilla.github.io/pdf.js/getting_started/#download
But just now when I manually update the PDF Viewer I have installed, I got v 1.0.1135
Right-click that add-on and select Find Updates to force it to update. Also, check to make sure that you don't have updates disabled, for that extension alone or globally in that Profile.
I'm coming from a user point of view, not a developer. Did download, but not seeing a jar or exe file to install. If you can advice...thx!

Not sure I understand, if you can explain. PDF.JS came with FF version 19 & now on mozilla site, they still have the old version which is not compatible with FF v 35 & above.

Alterado por the-edmeister em
TY edmeister! Was able to install. So, the way I understand is that this version will be released along with new versions of Firefox.
Whichever version of PDF.JS that is deemed Stable in the week before a Firefox release date, is the one that will probably be in the Release version.
Most new features will spend 6 weeks in the Nightly channel for alpha 1 development, then another 6 weeks in Aurora / Dev Edition alpha 2 development, and finally in the Beta channel for another 6 weeks of "touch-ups". But it looks to me that PDF.JS is being tested in the "extension format" (like parallel development to Aurora & Nightly) and then sent into the Beta channel close to the Release date - or at least that is what I figure is happening with my cursory glances at PDF.JS feature advances.
There are regularly updates of the PDF Viewer in Firefox developer versions.
See this for Firefox 38:
- bug 1126941 - Update pdf.js to version 1.0.1130

So that Bug says Nightly is going to get an older version than what is delivered in the Viewer extension update. Seeing that the PDF.JS Viewer is built into all Firefox versions now, how do we see which version it is? I don't find a version number in about:config - for sake of comparison.
And what about Aurora / DE and Beta, like the OP here has installed (with the extension version 1.0.277) - how do we know which version Beta comes with?
