Lately, I have had major problems with Firefox. I don't know if this is due to an upgrade or something else. Hard to describe but I will try it. I have to move the cursor to the top of the page to see other tabs. The task bar at the bottom is not visible. I have to press the windows key on my keyboard to see the task bar and it also then brings up the side window you get when you click on start. My yahoo toolbar disappeared. I can't find anyplace to manage add-ons. I tried to download the Yahoo toolbar and now all I get is a white screen (the window with toolbar flashes briefly then goes to white screen and hangs). I can start Firefox in safe mode and remove the Yahoo toolbar but then back to the above issues. I can't get the bar that has "file" "edit" "help" etc. I've tried to uninstall Firefox through add/remove programs but clicking the remove button does nothing. I've tried to run the uninstall manually (by going to the uninstall helper in the mozilla program files. I have run an Avast scan and a boot scan. I think it would be best to uninstall and re-install Firefox, but how? Running XP, don't know what version of Firefox because there is no bar that has "help" or "about"

hello whipadorm, the origianl problem sounds a bit like you ran the program in fullscreen mode - you can toggle that by pressing the F11-key.

the menu bar (file, edit...) is normally hidden and the orange firefox button on the top left takes its place: Restore the Menu bar in Firefox

if you'd like to start fresh generally, then a firefox reset might be the best and easiest option: Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings

Thank you SO much Phillip. I can't believe I wasted so much time trying to figure this out. Who knew that there was a fullscreen mode? -- obviously you! I reset firefox and then was able to download my Yahoo toolbar without firefox crashing. Only thing I haven't tried was whether firefox is now removeable through add/remove programs. But I guess that no longer matters.

Thank you again for your expertise.
