Having increasing problems with specific websites.
In Yahoo Mail, the site constantly, frantically refreshes so that I can't even read a message before I'm kicked back to the main message menu. In Gmail, I can read the main message menu, but can't open up a received message, nor can I compose any. In various blogs, some advertisements cover over some of the text (I can add a picture if you'd like) and although advertisements like that usually come with a "X" at one of the top corners, there's no clear way to disable the ad so that I can read the part that's covered over. These problems all occur in Firefox with Ubuntu Linux 13.04. No such problems occur in Windows, no such problems occur with Chromium.

Hello,
The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.
To Reset Firefox do the following:
- Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
- Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
- Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
- Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
Thank you.
If you have made changes to Advanced font settings like increasing the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" in case the current setting is causing problems.
- Edit > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced > Minimum Font Size (none)
Make sure that you allow pages to choose their own fonts.
- Edit > Preferences > Content : Fonts & Colors > Advanced: [X] "Allow pages to choose their own fonts, instead of my selections above"
It is better not to increase the minimum font size, but to use an extension to set the default page zoom to prevent issues with text not being displayed properly.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window or otherwise make changes.
